Magic: The Gathering's Star Trek Expansion Brings Autograph Cards and Commander Decks

Magic: The Gathering is boldly going where no trading card game has gone before, announcing a full Star Trek expansion that celebrates the franchise's 60-year history. Available to preorder now, the set is headlined by a remarkable first for the game: official autograph cards signed by real Star Trek actors, including William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway). Only 200 copies of each autograph card will be printed across seven characters, making them some of the rarest pulls the game has ever offered. The cards are expected to be available in packs this November.

Alongside the autograph cards, Wizards of the Coast is releasing four Commander decks built around iconic characters spanning the Star Trek universe. The decks feature fan favorites such as the Borg Queen, Worf, Spock, and Picard, giving players a chance to pilot the crews and villains of the franchise in multiplayer Magic. More details on the full expansion are expected to be revealed later this week at MagicCon Amsterdam, where the publisher is also set to share news on other upcoming sets including August's The Hobbit expansion.
